 Greenwood Mayor's Breakfast for Scouting

Pathfinder District welcomed Greenwood Deputy Mayor Terry McLaughlin for  our annual Friends of Scouting Mayor's Breakfast at Valle Vista Golf Club Tuesday Morning March 11, 2014.  Deputy Mayor McLaughlin, The former Sheriff of Johnson County, talked about the positive benefits of scouting and the long relationship he's had with the organization.  “An Explorers program started 25 years ago in the area, and now many of those Explorers are now Sherriff's Deputies.”  In addition to McLaughlin's remarks, Pathfinder District Eagle Scout Andrew Nover, talked to the audience on how becoming an Eagle Scout will benefit his future.  “It is my duty to provide leadership to younger scouts and my accomplishment of being an Eagle Scout can only make my future more bright.”  Nover is a member of Troop 245, a student at Roncalli High School and one of over 2,700 Scouts within the Pathfinder District.  Steve Battiato was the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Citizen Award.  Pathfinder District Chairman Charles Bailey reported that scouts within the district gave over 18,000 hours of community service in 2013. This year’s breakfast raised over $10,000!

Thank You to all of our units who participated in this years sale!  As a district we sold over $440,000 in product which means over $286,000 benefit to local Scouting in the Pathfinder District.  For more information about the popcorn sale, check out the revamped Popcorn page!!
