Friends of Scouting

We ask that all packs, troops, teams and crews in the Pathfinder District to schedule a 10 minute presentation about the Friends of Scouting campaign by the end of April. To schedule the presentation, Click Here to use the online scheduling form. For more information about the Friends of Scouting campaign, visit the Support Scouting page.

Spring Recruiting for Cub Scouts

It's time to start thinking about inviting new families to join Cub Scouts.

This summer, Cub Scouts can do many outdoor activities including Day Camp at Johnson County Park or Camp Belzer and Adventure Camp at Camp K.

In order for the boys to participate in the summer fun, they need to join this spring. We encourage all Packs to conduct a recruiting meeting in April or early May. The district membership team can help Packs plan their recruiting meetings and the professional staff can help get flyers printed (for free) and delivered to the school.

New this year is the emphasis on recruiting Tiger Cubs. For information about the new Tiger Cub recruiting plan, click here.

Contact Joseph Strauch if your Pack is interested in recruiting new Tigers and Cub Scouts this spring!

Letter from our District Chairman

Dear Fellow Pathfinder District Scouters:
2011 was another good year for the Pathfinder District. We have achieved Quality District for the 3rd consecutive year including most importantly growth in youth membership. Our units are healthy with two-thirds achieving quality unit recognition. I would like to thank all the unit scouters for doing a great job this past year providing exciting programs for our youth. Also, I would like to thank our retiring Key 3 volunteers, Bryan Woodruff and John Bush for their contributions in the past and for what they will do in the future.
I am honored to serve as the new district chair for Pathfinder. The district has developed many strong traditions over the past 20 years supporting our 100 packs, troops, teams and crews. My goal is to insure that the district helps units to develop, strengthen and grow the program that we are providing to our youth. Our focus can be found in a quote from Al Lambert, Central Region Director,
“A well-planned program, delivered by a trained leader, with a strong outdoor program, supported by a good commissioner, attracts and retains youth!
As you are aware we are changing from the Quality Unit/ District process to the new Journey to Excellence (nicknamed JTE). This process expands the scope of the Quality Unit/ District program and will measure our growth  in key performance areas that are directly related to producing a successful, growing and sustainable Scouting program (such as membership retention, financial strength, camping and advancement). Together we will learn what JTE is all about and what we need to do to plan and implement the actions needed to be successful. I believe that our units and the district have the capability to lead the way in the council to achieve Gold, Silver or Bronze recognition.
I look forward to working with you and seeing you during this next year at district committee meetings, roundtables and the various district and council events.
Best wishes for a great 2012.
Yours in Scouting,
Bruce Boyle, District Chairman
